Ostern 2016 - Easter 2016

In diesem Jahr haben wir das norwegischen Ostern zu Hause verbracht. Eirik hat immer noch viel Arbeit mit seiner Doktorarbeit und wollte auch die Feiertage nutzen, um Etwas zu erledigen. Im Gegenzug hatte ich geplant zu arbeiten... aber leider gab es keine Tour für mich :( (Zu Feiertagen gibt es doppeltes Gehalt und das hätte ich gerne gehabt ;) )

Am Sonntag haben wir mit Freunden bei uns ein kleines Grillfest veranstaltet. Viel Essen und viele Spiele später hatten alle eine gute Zeit. (Außer vielleicht unsere Katzen, welche sich die ganze Feier unter dem Bett versteckt hatten...)

This year we spent Easter at home, which is unconventional in the Norwegian way, because you are supposed to go to your "hytte". Eirik still has a lot of work to do with his PhD and wanted to use the holidays ti get some extra work done. I on the other hand had planed to work a lot too... but I didn't get a single tour in the end :( (On holidays I recieve the double wage ;) )

On sunday we had a little BBQ at our place with some friends. Lots of food and games - so I think everyone had a good time. (Maybe except our cats which were hiding under the bed for the whole party...)

Palmsonntag - Palm Sunday

Bei schönstem Wetter war selbst die Arbeit am Sonntag nicht so schlimm! Ein paar Eindrücke aus der Stadt vor und nach der Arbeit dokumentiert :D

Strampler-Kuchen - playsuit-cake

Als kleines Geschenk für unsere Freunde, die ein Baby erwarten, habe ich mich an einem kleinen Strampler-Kuchen versucht. Ist nicht 100% wie geplant geworden, aber hat zum Großteil funktioniert :)

I prepared a small playsuit-cake as a gift for our friends, who expect a baby. The cake didn't turn out 100% as planed, but most of it looked liked I wanted it to :)

Pflegekatzen 3! - foster kitties 3!

Am letzten Sonntag ist Pflegekatze Nummer 2 und insgesamt Katze Nummer 3 eingezogen. Major Øllegård bzw. Majo, wie wir sie rufen, wurde nach mehreren Tagen mit bis zu -30°C mit ihrem Katzenjungen in der Nähe einer Kaserne eingefangen. Die Soldaten vor Ort hatten sie seit dem Sommer dort beobachtet. Leider wurde das zweite Junge nicht mehr gefunden und hat wohl nicht überlebt. Auch Majo hat permanente Frostschäden an den Pfoten und Ohren, welche ihr Leben lang bleiben werden. Ihr geschätztes Alter ist 3 Jahre und sie streunte wahrscheinlich schon lange draußen herum. Dennoch muss sie einmal ein Zuhause gehabt haben, denn sie ist zutraulich und verschmust. Ihr langes Fell war vollkommen verfilzt und teilweise ausgerissen, weshalb sie einen "Löwenschnitt" beim Tierarzt bekommen hat. Nächste Woche geht es noch einmal zum Tierarzt für eine zweite Impfung, die Nachkontrolle nach der Kastrierung sowie ihren Leberwerten, welche nicht gut waren. Wir hoffen, dass sie nicht nur gesund ist, sondern auch bald ihr eigenes Zuhause findet. Bis dahin wohnt sie bei uns <3

Last sunday fostercat number 2 moved in. In total we now have 3 cats (thats Eirik's limit). Major Øllegård, or how we call her "Majo", was captured after serveral days with almost -30°C with her little kitten close by some barracks at a military point. The soldiers had observed her there since summer. Unfortunately they couldn't find the second kitten, which very likely didn't survive. Majo also has permanent damage from the cold temperatures at her paws and ears for the rest of her life. She is approximately 3 years old and was a stray for quite some time. Besides this she must have had a home at some point, because she friendly and cuddelish with us. Her long fur was basically just lumps and partly ripped off. Therefor she got a "lioncut" at the veterinarian. Next week we will go with her for 2nd vaccination, check up after her neutering and also a last check on her liver stats, because they were not okay when she was there first. We hope she is healthy and will find her new forever home soon. Until then she lives with us <3
